Monthly Space Awon Historic House

Awon (我園) : Our Garden
We went to Awon Historic House, an ensemble of Korean traditional houses and modern architecture.

Located in Soyang-myeon, Wanju, Jeollabuk-do, Awon Historic House is a new space that took the basic framework of a 250-year-old house in Jinju, Gyeongsangnam-do, and replaced it with rafters and roof tiles. The scenery of nature that changes all year round and the historic house that keeps it simple and honest embodies the special beauty of Korea. At Awon Historic House, you can experience various experiences in one space. It is an accommodation where you can stay in Hanok, but it is also a cultural complex where you can experience art exhibitions and the panorama of the historic house. (It is recommended to check the viewing time before the visit.) Also, if you look down from Awon Historic House, there is another Hanok village. It is called O Sung Hanok Village, and it is a popular tourist site even before the Awon Historic House was established. We were able to see the beauty of another Hanok in our eyes. Perhaps because of the quiet atmosphere, many people who came to Awon Historic House seemed to be quietly focusing on the sound of nature without talking. We also filmed quietly so that they wouldn’t be harmed.

On this day, manager Choi Hyung-gil wore a hazel-colored single suit, one of the Crisfaire collection fabrics of Holland & Sherry, which is currently on promotion. The inner is styled with a green striped shirt and a green cardigan, which has a similar tone to Hanok building materials made from nature. Usually, we call this tone ‘earthtone.’ Earthtone means ‘from light gray to black brown.’ Literally, you can think of it as something that embraces the natural color or tone that we see around us. Earthtone has a more familiar and comfortable visual effect because it’s common around us. Therefore, if you have difficulty with color and tone, Earthtone’s styling will be the most stable way.

Awon Historic House is a place where you can experience various things. One is that you can enjoy the beauty of the historic house, and the other is that you can enjoy the exhibits in modern concrete buildings. There are exhibitions on different themes depending on the season, and the current pottery artist Lee Soo-jong’s moon jar exhibition will be held until May 26.

When we looked around after the exhibition, there was a short bamboo forest. This bamboo forest is said to have been there before Awon Historic House was built. When you go inside the bamboo forest, you will naturally concentrate on the sound of nature. Just like a whisper in your ear, the bamboo leaves are rustling, and the bamboo extending high enough to cover all the sky slows you back a little bit, but when you reach the end, the view opens up cool. It was a time where we could take pictures of the beauty of nature.
 

We are striving to create new stories and new contents every day, and to provide stories and a variety of attractions that we can sympathize with. To make something special, even though it was a rather remote space, we boldly visited Wanju. Visiting here can be a burdensome distance, but if there is an Awon Historic House around the trail, we recommend you to visit at least once. It’s a good place because it’s spring, good because it’s summer, good because it’s fall, and good because it’s winter.
